Puff Pastry Apple Tart

Puff Pastry Apple Tart
A simple take on an apple pie with very little prep - slicing 4 red apples. Add a drizzle of maple syrup once the pie's out of the oven for some sweet toffee flavours and serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or crème fraîche.

Puff Pastry Apple Tart

1 Pre-rolled puff pastry sheet

4 Red apples

5 tsp Honey

100g Butter

Juice, half lemon

Drizzle of maple syrup

How to make

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.

  2. Unroll your pastry sheet and place it on a baking tray.

  3. Squeeze lemon juice into a medium sized bowl.

  4. Slice apples into quarters and carefully cut off the rubbish core part. Slice apples about 0.5cm thick, mixing them into the lemon juice as you go (this slows down the apple browning).

  5. Arrange apples equally over pastry leaving approximately 2cm each side, fold this layer over the outside apples to stop the juices flowing out.

  6. Cut small chunks of butter and evenly spread over the apples, similarly, spoon the honey randomly but equally over the apples.

  7. Place in the oven and check after 20mins, you want your pastry and apples golden brown!

  8. Once out, drizzle over some maple syrup and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla or a dollop of crème fraîche. It still tastes great the next day too!
