Healthy Green Piña Colada

I absolutely love Piña Coladas. They remind me of Mexico, beaches, and well, rum. But you can’t scoff a cocktail before work, so this is a recipe to set you on a healthy course for the day and can be made in less than 5 minutes. My secret ingredient in the healthy shake arsenal?

Soft silken tofu. Easily purchased from most supermarkets and Asian shops, this flavour neutral product adds a glossy silkiness to your drink and amps up the protein. This counteracts the acidity of pineapple and gives the drink a lovely mouth feel, so you get the health benefits of a green smoothie with a much creamier, indulgent texture.

Healthy Green Piña Colada


  • 50g Frozen banana (to save money, freeze chunks of banana yourself rather than buying)
  • 50g Pineapple
  • 50g Spinach
  • 50g Silken tofu
  • 1 tbsp of porridge oats
  • 150ml of coconut milk
  • 250ml of almond milk

How to make

  1. Pop it all into the blender and blend until smooth. No ice needed!
  2. You can also stir in a supplement of your choices, such as a teaspoon of spirulina, or a tablespoon of hemp protein or chia seeds.
