Marmite Tart

The traditional British spread is glorified through this South African recipe. It’s super easy to make and is best served warm, as a delicious savoury addition to an afternoon tea.

Ingredients
Tart
- 250ml plain flour
- 250ml grated mature cheese
- 3 chopped spring onions
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2 tbsp butter (plus extra for greasing)
- 250ml milk
Marmite topping
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp Marmite
How to make
- Switch on your oven to 180ºC and grease a pie dish
- Mix together the flour, grated cheese, spring onions and baking powder
- Melt together the butter and milk, then stir in the eggs
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and combine
- Pour into the pie dish and bake for 25 minutes, then remove from the oven and prick the surface generously with a fork
- Melt together the butter and Marmite and pour over the baked tart while still hot
