Looking for romantic date ideas this Valentine's Day?
From romancing and Champagne-sipping at an iconic London skyscraper to enjoying a cocktail party for two in the comfort of your own home, here are Tabl’s ideas for Valentine’s Dates. Enjoy!
Cocktail party for two
If you’re not one for PDA, make this an excuse to enjoy some drinks at home together. You can’t beat this stunning cocktail making kit from Christabel's available on Tabl. The aptly-named ‘Flirt’ kit contains everything you need to make seven exceptional gin-based cocktails from the copper cocktail shaker to Fentimans Rose Lemonade, Christabel's Rosemary Syrup, stirrers, two cut glasses, a recipe card – and the 35cl bottle of Sipsmith Gin.
A date with a view
If you’re going to do something romantic, do it properly – there’s little more romantic and thrilling than experiencing an incredible view together. Quaff Champagne from the top of the Shard, 244m above ground level, as you gaze out over the sparkling lights of London. On Valentine’s, night-time sessions at The View from the Shard are open an extra two hours, with the last one at 10.30pm. Or take a trip on the London Eye with a glass of Champagne in hand.
A date at the movies
Call us old-fashioned, but sometimes the classics are the best. Picturehouse Central in Piccadilly are putting on two classic, strikingly different love stories, with a sit-down meal and bubbly. Watch one of the most romantic films of all time, Casablanca, with a Prosecco brunch (think eggs Benedict, eggs Florentine or full English) to kick things off at 11 am, or watch True Romance at 4 pm with homemade burgers accompanied by beer or Prosecco, to follow, both for £22.50 per person.
A home-cooked truffle feast
For years the delicious truffle has been hailed one of the finest aphrodisiacs. Put the age-old theory to the test and impress a special someone with a delicious dinner based around the delicacy with the help of Pasta & Truffles, who offer artisanal, eco-friendly and organic Italian fine food – including a selection of truffle products - on Tabl. Their Tartufata sauce, a delicious blend of chopped truffles, porcini and champignons, black olives and anchovies, makes a tasty topping for crostini for the starter, the truffle tagliatelle and creamy Vellutata sauce provide the main, while a bottle of white truffle oil will increase the potency of the flavour.
It doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate, but afternoon tea makes the ultimate indulgent date. We recommend The Ampersand Hotel’s Science of Love Afternoon Tea, inspired by the neighbouring Science Museum. Indulge in romance-themed sweet and savoury dishes including white chocolate heart-shaped scones, pink guava and apple Opera cake, Valentine’s shortbread and a special ‘Love Elixir’ mocktail, goats cheese, pumpkin and sage quiche, roast beef bagels, crayfish with asparagus on focaccia, and smoked salmon and avocado blinis. £32.50 per person.
