Glühwein (Mulled wine) recipe
Glühwein is traditionally drunk at Christmas markets or used to heat you up after a long day on the slopes. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy it in the comfort of your own home too! The festive flavours will put you and your guests in the Christmas spirit.

Glühwein (Mulled wine) recipe

Ingredients

  • 175ml water
  • 95g white sugar
  • 1 orange
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 750ml bottle of red wine
  • 10 cloves

How to make

  1. Combine water, sugar and cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to the boil and then reduce heat and allow to simmer

  2. Squeeze half of the orange into the simmering mixture

  3. Press cloves into the orange peel and place the peel into the water. Continue simmering for 30 minutes

  4. Pour in the wine and heat. Remove the orange halves at this point

  5. Pour into heatproof glasses and top with half of an orange slice on the side of the glass
