Preheat the over to 180°C
Slice your potatoes thinly and place in a bowl of cold water
Pour the milk and cream into a large saucepan and bring it to a simmer. Add the garlic and potatoes and leave on a low heat for 10 minutes.
Grease up a tray and transfer the potatoes into it and sprinkle with gruyere cheese.
Bake for 25 mins in the oven until golden.
Voilá, delicious Dauphinoise potatoes!
