Healthy Nutella Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

Did you catch the Krispy Kreme Nutella doughnut craze? The clever sparks from their PR ‘accidentally’ pushed out a press release to tell us the new flavour, only to ‘retract’ it moments later. It caused a scene on social media, with people's hopes shattered to pieces. But of course – that was the point. The Nutella doughnut really was on its way after all.

We thought we’d make our own healthy version of Nutella Krispy Kreme's – sorting out those cravings whilst leaving you feeling absolutely guilt free.

Healthy Nutella Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

Ingredients

Doughnuts

  • 4 eggs – separate the yolks and whites
  • 150g spelt flour
  • 75g coconut flour
  • 1 tbsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 vanilla beans
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 5 tbsp almond milk

Homemade nutella

How to make

  1. Mix the flour with bicarbonate of soda and vanilla bean in one bowl.

  2. In another, mix the yolks with vinegar, maple syrup and coconut oil.

  3. Add in almond milk.

  4. Mix egg whites separately until peaks form – stir this in thoroughly, mixing everything above together.

  5. Use a doughnut baking tin – grease thoroughly with melted coconut oil, and fill the tin with the mixture.

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes on 180°C.

  7. In the meantime, mix together all the homemade Nutella ingredients together.

  8. Spread onto the cooled doughnuts.

  9. Sprinkle with coconut sugar for effect!
