After travelling across Latin America, Rosie and Charles fell in love with yerba mate and brought it back to the UK and Yuyo was born.
Yuyo was founded by a couple from Dorset, Rosie Marteau, a Spanish translator and her partner Charles Grummitt, a PhD biochemist, after travelling across Latin America. It was there that they discovered and fell in love the energising South American plant yerba mate, and after returning to the UK they started blending at the kitchen table.
Neither tea nor coffee, their range of six premium organic infusions are a break from the norm, with delicious, award-winning flavour profiles and vibrant, eye-catching packaging.
The leaves of yerba mate [pronounced yer-bah mat-ay] (ilex paraguariensis) are dried and seasoned and consumed as a beverage in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay. Yerba mate contains natural stimulation in the form of caffeine and theobromine, as well as offering health benefits such as high antioxidant levels (more than green tea!), and an aid to digestion.
Four of Yuyo's blends are based on mate (Pure Yerba, Yerba Zing, Yerba Mint and Yerba Spice), whereas two are rooibos-based (Rooibos Restore, Rooibos Rewind) for those who prefer a caffeine-free relaxing brew. The range is all certified organic with the Soil Association.
