Top 5 Places to Eat in Bermondsey
When I moved to Bermondsey I had no idea that I was moving to a neighbourhood with such a tremendous food culture. While most of us have heard of Maltby Street and maybe even Bone Daddies test kitchen there are so many hidden gems. Here is a list of some of my favourite places to eat in Bermondsey.
This is a bit of a cheat since Spa Terminus is home to loads of businesses. Nestled away in some archways, this is open to the public on Saturday mornings from 9am-2pm. My weekly ritual is to pick up some freshly baked wholegrain sourdough from The Little Bread Pedlar and then I head over to Puntarelle & Co for some fresh in season fruit and veg or some fermented goodies from the Fermentary, their Leekchi is incredible.

Crol & Co
We stumbled upon this café/antique shop shortly after we moved into the flat. On one of our many trips to Argos we decided to pop in. I’m partial to going there for a coffee and croissant in the sunshine. They have a few outdoor seats and the road is quite considering how close it is to the Old Kent Road.

Secret Goldmine Cafe
My mom was actually the one that found this place for me when she was over visiting from New York. They have freshly made pies and sandwiches that are perfect on a cold day, or any day for that matter. It's in what looks like a storage facility but don't worry it's there! The last time I was there the daily special was fish and chips with sweet potato crisps. Absolutely delightful.

Bell & Sons
I don’t eat much meat, and strictly fish and poultry at that, but when I do I like to make sure I’m sourcing it in a sustainable way. I was pleased to find this local butcher shop operating at The Blue. They’ve been operating for over 20 years and have great quality food and top notch service.
13a Market Pl, London SE16 3UQ, UK
From chatting to my neighbours this was a pet project for the former owner who wasn’t ready to quit her full time job. She recently decided to step down but fortunately it was quickly taken over and reopened. This café serves up tasty not overly complicated food. It’s only open 3 days a week so be sure to get there at the weekend.
